Engineering according to a sample. When a replacement part is needed and no drawing is available reverse engineering is the answer. With measurements the part is digitized. These measurements can be geometrical or freeform.

Reverse engineering however goes a step further than making a copy. The use of the part and the interaction with other parts is always taken in consideration.
